just a general question, i have only one hard drive in my pc but i have a few laptop hard drives lying around of good size. my question is can i since they are sata, connect them in my pc and use them? do they operate on same voltages and stuff?
As long your power supply is enough. It is fine. I did it before.
Yes. Laptop and Desktop SATA drives use the same power and data connections. You should be able to plug one into the other (cable length and power supply issues aside) with no problems.
The previous two posters have already answered your question, but I would like to reassure you that yes, this will work without problems.
as the three previous posters asserted, yes, this is possible. I myself am using an old laptop drive as an external. Mostly I keep my porn on it.You will also want to make sure that you have enough power.
