Cleaning out my disk. This is as good a reason as any to ressucitate this somewhat moribund board.

I love these

It's as if no one learned anything about the computer and its use strictly by intuition

Yeah, it's like everyone has a broomstick up their arse about being "correct" and "enterprise" about computers. You don't see art like this on computer mags anymore.

That's because art is a dead art form. Fanart is where it's at now.

I was surprised at first that someone besides me remembers Highlights, but after a quick Google search to come up with a relevant image I discovered that it's still in production, which... well, ok, perhaps that's not so surprising either.

Anyway, remember the 3-2-1 Contact magazine?

/r/ A scan of one of those infamous "type in your program in hex, cuss like a sailor for hours" mag pages.

Though I remember that some magazine provided the stuff with error correcting codes? Or am I going sclerotic?

Here's the table of contents. Unfortunately you (still?) need a subscription to access the articles:

I wonder where all that effort for the 5th generation project went to. I really felt down went bossman told me "we don't do research here" when I suggested Prolog to solve a problem instead of "The Java".
